Peace

My life is actually better than it appears because of my inner peace. I used to be my own worst enemy. But that has changed.

Loving Thyself Is A Consious Journey

It is time for every one of us to roll up our sleeves and put ourselves at the top of our commitment list.

~Marian Wright Edelman

Commitment is the state or quality of being dedicated to a cause, activity, etc.., according to the Oxford University Press Dictionary. Some synonyms for dedication are single-mindedness, wholeheartedness, purposefulness, faithfulness, devotion, perseverance, persistence, loyalty and allegiance; therefore, commitment to one’s self is the equivocal of being single-minded, wholehearted, purposed, faithful, devoted, persevered, persistent, loyal and allegiant to yourself. Why is it difficult to be those things to you? How can you be all of those things to another without having that same level of commitment to you? In a state of depletion, it is not possible to continue to give. You feel overwhelmed, weak, sick, angry, frustrated, empty and out of control. You know why, because you are! So, focus on beginning with nourishing yourself. If you begin with yourself and fill your own tank with the wholesome love you need to fuel your ability to give to others, you will not be depleted. Love thyself so self can love others.

Own It, It's Yours

I got my own back.

~Maya Angelou

We don't take a leap of faith and follow our dreams because we get content in what we THINK is guaranteed income, but to be who you are destined to be, we must take a step that may result in being uncomfortable while going through. The journey, although rough, is necessary to make it to your destination. And don't you even consider being discouraged if your inner circle doesn't support you because they can't see it. Push through! When you are finished going through, when you get to your place of splendor, you can enjoy the comforts within the blanket of your dream come true. Remember, it is your dream, your vision as seen by you so nurture and cultivate it, water and feed it, fertilize and grow it, and support and promote it.

Be Your Own Priority

Never make someone a priority when all you are to them is an option.

Rhythmic Poetry

When I hear the opening swish-swish, my heart instantly names that tune and melts...I'm transformed to 2005, singing Be Without You louder than Mary J. All my sexy comes alive when I hear the words whispered, "pretty," you know whats coming, "brown," ooooh, then beathy final word, "eyes." Yes, I'm now THAT GIRL in 1992 for the entire four and a half minutes Stokely croons Mint Condition's Breakin' My Heart. I listen to Walter Hawkins tell me about Goin' Up Yonder and I'm a kid listening to WHUR while I watching my mother cooks breakfast. When I need to put myself in an emotional space other than the one I am in, I use someone's poetry set to music and go where I need to be to feel emotionally safe. Music can be very therapeutic. Today Yolanda and I are singing Never Give Up in a loop. What songs move you? Whose poetry takes you there? If you can not think of any, take out your journal and create your own.

Hugs!
